Moving and grooving with music is a natural response by young children and even us oldies. Offering Music activities at home can possibly be the last thing on a busy mother’s mind but let me help make it simple, quick and easy for you.
All you need is a good book with great rhythm, a drum or a saucepan and wooden spoon, a shaker and even a keyboard if you have access to one.
Start by reading the book, or if it came with a CD or it may have come with a Download option you are set for a great time with your kids.
For Example, lets say we’re using the There;s a Hole In My Bucket published by Scholastic. My copy has a CD with singing by the Topp Twins and the pictures by Jenny Cooper are fantastic. Just pop the CD on and read to the kids, sing with the kids and you can even make up some actions to go with it. While reading, singing through the book, offer your child a drum to play along on, or a shaker to shake.
Easy Peasy! Right?
You could extend this activity by getting a bucket so you and your child can act out the story too. It’s so much fun experiencing great music.
The benefits of this activity are : developing reading skills, Learning the beat, Rhyming and Verbal skills all at the same time.
Are you ready? Go on….give it a go and enjoy the fun.
If you don’t have a copy of this awesome book you can buy it here…..
